Our family extends from Toronto Ontario to California to Australia and we all struggle with the same challenges and concerns; the amount of trash we accrue in our homes each week. Like many people today in the city and suburban areas we are limited to number of bags we can take to the curb each week and to this day there are many packaging products that can’t be recycled….it is a catch twenty two situation.

When our family is all together at the cottage we number over 13 people at least and we create a great deal more garbage, to make matters worse we do not have the city recycling programs to assist us.

Even when we diligently recycle all we can, we still exceed the trash bag limits we have to adhere to…..but over the holidays we had the opportunity to use a Bettermaid Compactor and what a difference it made!

We compacted all our garbage, from cartons that can’t be burned to styrofoam to food waste with great ease. We reduced the number of bags we accumulated over the holiday and helped limit the number of bags going to our landfill site, plus the bags are biodegradable as well.

Not only did the Bettermaid Compactors assist us with saving money but time as well…I am waiting to get my silver one for my kitchen at home. This compactor replaces my trash can and gives me the added value of being a compactor as well…two in one product!

Q- What has motivated you to purchase this new product?

Dan…..”garbage today has become a real process in our household, gone are the days of just throwing everything out in a green plastic bag or bin…..over the last decade it seems we have been re-conditioned to compartmentalize our garbage.”

Q- How do you mean?

Dan…….”the blue box …the green bin… and I can remember when the buzz was all around composting as well, and what about everything else? It seems to me that it has not reduced the number bags I have taken out over the years.”

Q- Why do think that is?

Dan…….”certainly using this (Bettermaid Compactor) has helped bring that to light, I have taken notice that over the years manufacturers of all types have constantly been adding wrappers, bags, papers, tags, and different types of packaging and sealed cartons to our regular routine and we find ourselves still tossing out as much, if not more garbage over and above the recycling we do.”

Q- So, what is it about the Bettermaid?

Dan……..”we starting using the Bettermaid Compactor and simply added it in to our weekly garbage regime and found it to be simple, safe and with less mess, it truly does eliminate the amount I have to take out each week. More importantly, it fits perfectly in with our household garbage process ( I call it)…as we toss stuff in and compact it by the end of the week come garbage day, I pull out the bag spin and twist and the bag is completely full with no rips or tares.”

Q- It’s that simple to use?

Dan……”absolutely…we have added one to the basement and I was just saying to my wife that we could really use one up at the cottage as well. It’s a nice looking unit, and…. Well it’s about time someone came up with the idea of a better way to deal with our regular household non-recyclable garbage.”
